未生 THE UNBORN
About the exhibition:
Within the tremors of China’s One-Child Policy, the artist’s existence was a negotiated exception: a birth permitted only by a sibling’s tragedy. The exhibition is a project that serves as a belated confession, mourning the truncated existence of all living beings: human, animals, plants, even stone, whose potential was severed before it could begin. The work manifests through experimental approaches: elm seeds are utilized as organic negatives for direct darkroom enlargement, while transparent 3D-printed objects are exposed onto X-ray film.
Today the logic of creation is undergoing a shift: the relationship between creator and created has shifted to a cryptic symbiosis, feeding unknown sources and becoming through generative rumination. Lost in translation of images and dimensions, we enter a zone of obscured origins where wonder and disorientation coexist. When boundary between “existence” and the “unborn” is fundamentally destabilized, whose presence remains eternally felt within the folds of our reality?
*At the opening, Enbo performed a commemorative rite, where the affective device and the flesh, the natural and the artificial, sound and silence, dissonance and resonance, converge to grant the unborn a psychoacoustic hyper-presence.

Enbo Chen is a Helsinki-based artist interrogating the ontological friction between organic impulse and industrial logic. Drawing on a background in robotics and mechanical engineering, Enbo bridges analog darkroom processes and 3D printing to construct ritualistic environments that negotiate the interstitiality between 2D and 3D dimensions. By integrating death whistles as psychoacoustic devices in performance.
