I SEE MY EYES

5 September- 4 October 2026
Vernissage: 5 September, 18:00–20:00

‘In I see my eyes Paola returns to material recorded during the laser eye surgery she had in Colombia. Working with these images alongside experiments on colour and black-and-white 16mm film, she explores how vision can change physically and through a change of geography.

Paola’s myopia began when she was ten years old and continued to progress over the years. The surgery took place during her first visit to Colombia after moving to Finland. It was a moment when a familiar landscape was already becoming distant and a new one was beginning to take its place.

‘For spare parts click here’ by Oona Libens focuses on the idea of planned obsolescence: the strategy of designing technological devices with intentionally limited lifespans or lower-quality components, encouraging their eventual replacement. The works foster a dialogue between outdated and present-day technology and reflects about which habits and practices are pushed into collective oblivion through technological development. The projected images emerge and recede, fluctuating between presence and disappearance, memory and oblivion.
